Verizon has launched new education business partnership
June 26, 2009
Verizon has launched a new education business partnership at the House of Commons.
Executives from the telecoms giant – based at Reading International Business Park – joined its community investment partner, the Central Berkshire Education Business Partnership (CBEBP), at a special reception to unveil the new Institute of Education Business Excellence (IEBE).
The IEBE will help develop partnerships between schools and businesses to provide work experience and apprenticeship opportunities for youngsters.
They were joined by students from Addington Special School, who told the gathering how they have benefited from workshops organised by the CBEBP and staffed by Verizon Business volunteers.
Dominic Gaillard, executive director of international finance operations for Verizon, said: “We hope that this newly formed institute will support the CBEBP in its valuable work, which helps children in our local community transition from the comfortable surroundings of school to the challenging world of employment.”
