Microsoft snaps to it for parents

Parents snapped away as they were taught how to take perfect pictures of their children in a photography masterclass.

A professional photographer showed a 15-strong class how to capture the perfect image – from lighting angles to close-ups and framing shots.

The one-day course was organised by Microsoft in conjunction with Government agency SureStart as part of a scheme to help mums and dads get the most out of photographing their young ones.

A Microsoft representative was also on hand at South Reading Youth and Community Centre to show the class how to store and edit the photos they took using Windows.

Attendee Lorraine Barros said: “I found the Microsoft Windows Live course really helpful and since taking part I have started taking the time to change the different functions on my camera, which I didn’t even know about before.

“I now enjoy taking photos of my kids and I will also be using Windows Live PhotoGallery to help make my pictures look that much better.”

David Law, head of Windows Live, said: “The event was really successful – we had 15 local parents attend on the day and they were all really engaged with the class and the technology we showed them.

“We’re currently looking into the possibility of rolling out the class to other SureStart centres across the country.”
