Hundreds of people look set to lose their jobs after an Irish bank announced yesterday it was closing its Reading base.

The Bank of Ireland, which employees 285 people in Reading, has an office in Plaza West, Bridge Street.

Bank spokesman Tim Loughrey last night confirmed the Reading office looked set to close, although he would not say when.
