Reading law firm Shoosmiths has been appointed to provide property advice to entertainment and books retailer HMV.

The practice, based at Apex Plaza, has joined several other law firms on HMV Group’s legal panel, and will advise on management and disposal as well as on property disputes.

Property partner Michael Higgin and property litigation partner Libby Shirtcliffe will lead Shoosmiths’ account team, which boasts planning, tax and construction specialists.

Mr Higgin said: “This appointment demonstrates a genuine team effort by Shoosmiths, and our strength in depth when advising retailers in property matters played an important role in securing this work.”
