Card cash helps cancer fight

30/ 1/2008

A FIRM in Reading found a better way to spend its Christmas card cash this year.

Redstor Ltd broke with tradition by donating the £1,000 it would have spent wishing its customers and clients a Merry Christmas to Cancer Research UK.

The data management company handed over the cash in a ceremony outside its offices in Market Place on Tuesday.

The cancer charity emerged as the winner after customers, suppliers and partners voted from a shortlist of three worthy causes on the firm’s website.

Marketing manager Jon Ashley hopes other businesses will follow their lead and do their bit for the environment.

“Let’s face it – most faceless, corporate Christmas cards end up in the bin, which is a demand on our planet’s resources including trees and energy,” he said.

“Why not put that money to good use through a donation? Why not match ours?

“You’ll see it put to good use by one of the many outstanding charities.”
