Water voted best for customer satisfaction

2/ 7/2007

TAP water in Reading and across Berkshire is the best in the country, according to an official report.

Thames Water, the Reading-based company that provides water to the area, has been voted the best for customer satisfaction with drinking water quality in the study by the Drinking Water Inspectorate.

According to the independent watchdog’s annual report, the firm has carried out nearly half a million quality tests on its customers’ taps and almost 100 per cent of those met national and European standards.

The report – which looked at the country’s 10 water suppliers – also says Thames Water recorded the lowest proportion of customer complaints about water quality.

Thames Water’s drinking water regulation manager Dr Steve White said: “These results show that our tap water is better than ever. It is among the safest and cleanest in the country.

“The protection and improvement of drinking water is a 24-hour responsibility.

“Careful management of the way water is treated and distributed is essential as is continued investment to maintain and improve the high standard which our 8.5 million customers expect.”
