Brannigans helps to cut crime

9/ 2/2006

Revellers at Brannigans have been praised for giving generously to stop crime.

Collections at The Oracle nightspot resulted in a £1,700 donation to Reading’s Crime Prevention Panel.

Thames Valley Police crime prevention advisor John McNicholas said the money would be used to fund campaigns such as the anti-drink spiking kit initiative.

The scheme saw the panel supply licensees with tools to test whether alcoholic beverages have been spiked with so-called date-rape drugs such as rohypnol.

Mr McNicholas said: “Brannigans are doing their bit to help Reading Crime Prevention Panel and we are grateful for it. This is money from customers that could have been used to buy alcohol instead.”
