Moan not – it could be 244p a litre

28/ 7/2008

otorists were finally given something to smile about last week with the announcement that some of our major supermarkets are cutting fuel prices.

At the time of writing, Morrisons and Asda in Reading are both offering unleaded at 113.9p per litre, with Tesco at 114.9 and Berkeley Service Station and Lower Earley Filling Station both at 115.9 per litre.

Granted, the prices are still extortionate but at least they’re going in the right direction.

If you really want a bargain though, then you won’t find  it cheaper than in Venezuela, where unleaded petrol costs just 1.6p per litre, closely followed by Iran at 5p.

You’d be advised to steer well clear of Sierra Leone though, as petrol there is a staggering 244p per litre and you don’t even get service with a smile for that.

See – how much better do you feel now?

There’s always someone worse off.
